I binged the whole first season of #Frieren this weekend and it's become one of my favorite animes. Season 2 can't come soon enough.
@rafford I can’t wait for the second season of Frieren because it was an absolute banger; the heartfelt nature of the story paired with great combat and unique characters…This anime has me in a stranglehold.
@WanderingInDigitalWorlds Right? The characters feel very real. In other animes they just have a personality trait, but I can easily empathise with Frieren's
@rafford It's the sign of a person who has a good understanding of others...To make a character that's more than a personality trait takes a lot of skill. Particularly for those anime/manga with huge casts. While the character's names are their 'trait' they've got more to them than just that trait! What I mean by that is, their names are German words that were picked with absolute care. It's really fun watching Frieren and knowing the meanings of most names; I can see the root of who they are as a character and yet be surprised that each are deeper than at face value.
@WanderingInDigitalWorlds I didn't know all the names had a meaning! Now I have something to research. Thanks!

@rafford It's something I picked up on, naturally not all the names were German, but an unusually high amount which didn't feel like a coincidence!

Sense for example is English, but it tracks for the character, based on her personality and personal history. It's just a fun aside, that gives you hints on what might happen with certain characters or what their true face is like.

Also, Fern (a german word) adverb for afar, that theme shows up in how she's characterized.

@WanderingInDigitalWorlds That's a pretty cool Easter egg that makes me like it even more
@rafford Yeah, I have mad respect for the creator of Frieren, to have thought that far ahead and made all their names tie into their character somehow.
