Lets be honest, the fediverse aint much better.
A ton of the fediverse feels less like social media and more like new buckets to fill with old memes…there’s very little original content on here which is, in my opinion, the best part of social media with strangers.
I miss pre-trump Twitter.
But I think it’s less likely to get worse because aggressive engagement optimization is not the goal of any project or instance.
This is (to me) the cancer of Reddit, Twitter and such. Awful, boring things are amplified because, algorithmically, they trend the most.
