An airstrike hit the civil emergency centre in the Nuseirat market area in the central Gaza Strip, killing Ahmed Al-Louh, a video journalist for Al Jazeera TV, and five other people, including medics.

Another strike on a house in Nuseirat camp killed five people, including children, according to medics.

In southern Gaza's Khan Younis, medics said that at least 20 people, including women and children, were killed when an airstrike hit a shelter housing displaced families.

Something I learned about Western-based journalists this year is that, collectively as a profession, and unlike say construction or mine workers, they will simply stand by and do nothing as their colleagues are murdered on the job en masse.
When this happens in many other sectors the surviving workers organise, unionize, and stand firm in solidarity.
Not so western journalists.
I think this explains a lot about the pay, conditions, and job security of journalists as compared with again, say, construction and mine workers in the west.

@MercG

Were the perpetrators of the 12 July 2007 Baghdad airstrike, in which Iraqi Reuters journalists and several civilians were killed by a U.S. helicopter crew, the video of which was leaked by Julian Assange, ever brought to justice?
