@BlakesSanctum @civfanatics @moddb A HoMM2 mod for Civ2 sounds amazing. Where can someone still get Civ2? I have all Civs starting from 3 but wasn't able to find 1 and 2 somewhere legally.

@FrankBlack78 @BlakesSanctum I'm afraid currently nowhere :(. Both #Civ1 and #Civ2 are apparently in some copyright limbo, it seems to not be clear who holds the copyright or wether it can be bought from anyone. Just that neither 2K nor Firaxis hold it. That's why they're not on GOG, Steam or anywhere else :/.
So the only option is really used copies from ebay, if you can find any.

@civfanatics @BlakesSanctum Yeah. Its a shame. Even if I could get a copy I couldn't use it lacking a CD-Rom drive 🤣
But I really love seeing that there are still people out there creating content for old games. I wish you all the best for that mod. It combines two of my most beloved franchises.

@FrankBlack78 @civfanatics Yeah it's possible 2K do hold but do nothing with it, we just don't know unfortunately. I'm trying to get Civ2 onto GoG so it comes pre-patched and in an easy to use installer saving us all this trouble! So please vote if you can!

@FrankBlack78 @BlakesSanctum there are various different version of Civ2, the most widely used are "Test Of Time" (ToT) and the "Multiplayer Gold Edition" (MGE). For this one you need the latter, MGE. I am not sure if other versions of Civ2 would be compatible, that blake needs to answer.

@civfanatics @FrankBlack78 Yup as CivFanatics says my HoMM2 mod is for the Multiplayer Gold Edition (MGE) of Civilization 2. If you do manage to get a copy and maybe a USB external CD drive off ebay too (they're quite cheap) then I recently wrote a quick guide in this thread (bottom of section 4) that may help people get around some of the issues/quirks:

This looks wild. I've actually never played I/II (just, III, IV, V, Alpha Centuri and Beyond Earth).

I do play a lot of HoMM2, discovered it in my childhood. I preferred HoMM2 to HoMM3 which was a very contrarian opinion back in the day.

Did try HoMM 1, but if felt like a less developed version of HoMM2.
