It is becoming increasingly confusing to work out where to publish if you want to comply with your funders OA policy (or with your own principles).

This tool is very helpful

Journal Checker Tool: Check which publishing options are supported by your funder’s OA policy |

JCT enables researchers to check whether they can comply with their funders Plan S aligned OA policy based on the journal, the funder and the institution affiliated with the research to be published.

@CellySally Yes, just got an email about this exact thing. It is not straightforward… also no idea how long the list will be in January as our uni agreements expire and financial pressures bite.

@dozenoaks That's one thing I like about the tool: it flags up if agreements expire soon or not.

Some of the commercial journals have transformative agreements with Edinburgh until the end of 2024 but currently no promise that they will be renewed after that.

@Co_Biologists journals have Read&Publish deals that are not due to expire any time soon, for Edinburgh at least. Looks like the same is true for Sheffield University. Just saying.

@CellySally @Co_Biologists Ha no worries - preaching to the converted. Just need a more biophysics one for the next paper…
