@glc Your memory may be OK (if it scans) - there's multiple wordings of Lehrer songs even on Youtube, and I daresay if I dusted off the records I could find some more.

It was actually a part of Flanders's and Swann's routine to state that they'd tell a particular joke differently in the U.S.A. and in the U.K..

There's also the Lehrer line in "My Home Town": "We're recording tonight so I'l have tol leave this line out." He always found some excuse for dropping that line. And Lehrer's remarks in Australia were amusing.

I can't say at this distance in time that I have a detailed recollection of Flanders and Swann's jokes (US version), though the intro to their song about thermodynamics has stuck with me. That particular intro probably worked equally well in either context.
