I Watched the Democratic Collapse in Florida. I Fear It’s Happening Nationally.

It’s time for real structural changes in the party, not quick fixes. Here are a few.

The Bulwark
@elyseea Interesting but I think Florida isn’t the demographic that represents the entire country.
We need to be looking at the sum of all parts, not an average value that no one identifies with.
We are now a nation of diverse individuals. How does one govern or even get elected to govern that? Look at coalition governments in Europe, for example.
It’s not about spending money or when you spend it. It’s about grassroots efforts. It’s hard to turn a large ship. It takes time.

The big ship metaphor is good. Dems didn’t get here overnight, nor can they shift overnight. Grassroots takes time but can produce results.
@elyseea @[email protected] But America expects instant gratification, short term results. But quick solutions won’t have meaningful results. Just like in climate change, we’re now experiencing the pain from decades of neglect and inaction. It will also take decades of action before we see significant change.
The bad news is that most of our population is too impatient for that.

Impatient and shallow, alas
