The Xbox year in review thingy is live and mine went as expected. 😂

25 hours played in total.
It mentioned that my best month was January.
Well duh, the 4th of February, after they announced the closure of Tango and Arkane Austin, I said “well fuck this, back in the box you go”, and got my PS3 and 4 out of storage followed a couple of months later with my Pal and Japanese PS2s. 😅

So the year in review there should be a bit more livelier.

@OutofPrintArchive I mean. Did you keep playing on PlayStation after they fired people in Insomniac?
@pls nice gotcha, I guess…

@OutofPrintArchive that's not really what I had in mind. Other big video game companies had to lay off thousands of people too

I was pretty angry about the announcement too, it definitely created its own narrative. But boycotting doesn't seem reasonable, and it would not have been effective at sending a message, when what happened at Microsoft was really happening to the industry as a whole

I'm just pointing out that you may not have seen the bigger picture around this yet. I am so sick and sad of reporting about layoffs honestly

@pls

Look, we all have to pick our own poison, I guess.
Sony has done way too many shitty things for me consider myself and fan of theirs.
But I do consider myself a massive fan of the work their developers put out, same for MS.

That example was just the final straw for me.
I'm at a point where I'm just done with them. After another 8 years of putting tons of money and time into their eco system, getting promised the world and ending up with the "next year will be the year, we promise!" time and again, while rolling back so many consumer friendly policies, plenty of disappointing releases and whatnot.
Closing these studios and they way the mouthpieces there handled it, I was just "I'm done".
Done with giving them way too many chances.

If their teams release great games on other platforms, I'll still support them, but I'm not anchoring myself to their ecosystem anymore.

They had their chance and blew it, again.
I have zero trust in them right now.
