@flexghost What shocked me when I began taking Social Security was the pathetically small payments per month. I cannot imagine anyone living on SS alone, you'd starve without help. This is one of the richest countries in the world, yet Social Security is treated like it's a "giveaway" when, really, it is just enough to keep most people from going on welfare or losing their homes. It always is rich, white men who most bitterly complain about others getting SS and their lack of vision, let alone empathy, is simply breathtaking. Their attitude is, "I got mine, too bad if you don't get yours" as my late partner, who grew up in the Great Depression, used to put it.
