today in ancient obscure FPGA toolchain request: does anyone know how to obtain ORCA Foundry (90s-era AT&T/Lucent toolchain)?

(also my older search for any toolchain supporting XC6200/XC8100 devices continues, as does the search for XPLA Designer aka Philips software with support for pre-XPLA3 coolrunners)

i am considering calling 1-800-EASY-FPGA like suggested here, i wonder if they’ll answer…

if anyone has any leads on that FTP, i have a great need

I had a very mild luck finding the very old drivers and programs - using the precise file name. Worked for me couple times.

Unfortunately requires knowing precise file name.

Edit1. To make it clear: you get the file name, surround it with double quotes, and search for the string with google.

i want either of those 4 files. mind you, foundry_9_3.zip (and others with underscores) contain just the docs, which we already have

of course, there were earlier releases of orca foundry than 9.3 - but i only found filenames for those

Unless this was a *NIX software (unlikely, ZIP was largely a PC/DOS thing) the names should be of 8.3 format.

  • this was both UNIX and Windows NT software. Supposedly, earlier versions were also for win3 (but we haven’t found proof of their existence just yet)
  • foundry 9.3 released sometime in 1999. This is almost 5 years after the introduction of LFN
  • it was hosted on an FTP that likely was running some UNIX or Linux. I doubt that they cared enough for their legacy users to make it not say FOUNDR~1.ZIP
