cardraThis is one of the many reasons #brands will hate #federation. They want to be able to restrict who can and can't interact with them as they used to be able to do on #Twitter.
For them it's not about #privacy or protection. It's about controlling their public image.
That was never going to work on #mastodon or in the #fediverse but it may not even work on #bluesky

I'm not sure how to make that work for other servers. I do hope that level of federation happens. Technically, there are ways to centrally trust someone is who they say they are (like with SSL certs). The important part is that it needs to be simple, obvious, and ideally available to everyone.
