@evacide Somehow it surprises me that Canada extradites its own citizens at all. Or is he not Canadian and it just didn't come up in the article (or I missed it)?
@kechpaja @evacide Canada has an extradition treaty with the USA. The only time we won’t is if the death penalty is involved.

(Finnish citizens have AIUI an explicit right to not be removed from Finland against their will.)

@kechpaja @evacide If the crime is committed in the USA, the US has the right to file an extradition request. As long as the prospective penalties do not include the death penalty (because Canada hasn't had the death penalty since 1976, except for members of the military. Even that was repealed in 1998.) Once the accused has been extradited to the US, tried and convicted, they can apply to serve their sentence here.
