Then in August this year, I began to collect the parts needed for my build. I bought the Corne kit from Mechboards, the microcontrollers from AliExpress (they were cheaper), and batteries from eBay.
I soldered everything to the PCB and put in my controllers, and so I ordered some switches from AliExpress to finish it off. I did manage to short a controller on my way.
And after two months it was finally finished!
Most of the time was taken up by waiting for stuff to arrive from China.
I flashed my firmware and I have been using it almost daily ever since then to study and take notes, as well as some light programming.
A few weeks after, I discovered home row mods, which let me ditch my function keys which gave me discomfort when typing capital letters.
My next step is to either get new switches or lube my current ones, because they're pretty loud.
I also want to eventually get some flatter all white keycaps, and I think that'll look better.
