Visual Basic 6 replicated in browser is such a nostalgia pang for me. I took beginner and then advanced VB 6 as a high school freshman, and it was the perfect intersection of my growing skills with a capable IDE to produce real-feeling apps.

@jw wow. That brings back memories. VB6 was the first real language and IDE I used, after meddling with Basic on my parents BBC Micro. You could even use it to make games in DX7.
@jw Learned programming on QBasic then VB6. It was amazing to produce "real" apps so easily.
@jw Real-feeling apps is the key here. We were being "taught" turboC++ when everyone was focusing on JS.
@jw my first paying job was in vb6. It's been all downhill since then
