E-ink is pretty cool, but I'm really just waiting on one to figure out that actually the unlit LCD displays were a nice feature that no one should have ever done away with.  Crap like this feels like a nice illustration of how no, actually capitalism does not do a good job of satisfying human needs.

I would be declined to despair that such a technology will ever emerge again, but I also never thought that manufacturers would go back to making smartphones that are small enough to fit in a pocket and operate on-handed, which I'm suddenly seeing everywhere again.  Almost makes me want a smart phone.  Almost.

@dynamic that is true too. The Nokia 1100 was perfect and one of the only reasons I didn't go with it again (besides people expecting you to have Internet and maps and suchlike) was I wanted to be able to use XMPP. My somewhat far-fetched plan was to buy a KaiOS phone and write an XMPP app for it, which as you can see I'm still working on πŸ˜…οΈ
