Just realised I’ve become Ian Malcolm because I’m researching extinction dynamics in ecosystems based on paleontological data… using dynamical systems theory (aka chaos theory, Ian’s specialty), probability theory, and lots of fun graph theory shenanigans. Ian didn’t have to look at fossil data though and had access to the real deal, but I get to say “chaos theory” just as much 🦖
