Bhattacharya has spread misinformation about vaccines and COVID, fought against lifesaving public health measures during the pandemic, and is backed by well-funded organizations which undermine public health in order to further corporate interests.
Due to increased travel, growing urbanization, and climate change, the risk of deadly pandemics is accelerating. Appointing someone who would disrupt funding lifesaving research on new vaccines, treatments, and emerging infectious disease threatens the health of everyone.
