It's the #sandwichGeneration #healthcare #bureaucracy-palooza today!
Q: Why was my uncle's home care downgraded from 24x7 to 9x7 without explanation?
A: (after quite a while on the phone with the insurance co. and aide agency) Either the aide agency misunderstood the authorization letter or it was written wrong; the insurance co. sent a new letter. Problem solved.

Q: How can I get my uncle's broken motorized wheelchair fixed?
A: (required speaking to both the insurance co. and the doctor's office) Doctor needs to send prescription for repair to insurance company. Insurance company will authorized repair and send technician to the apartment to evaluate what's wrong with the wheelchair and how to fix it. Prescription has supposedly been faxed to the insurance co.

Q: Has the Medicare which was disconnected from my uncle's insurance when he entered rehab been properly reconnected to his insurance?
A: (required speaking to someone different at the insurance co.) The reenrollment team at the insurance company is still working through a backlog cuased by Medicare changing the process. They will hopefully get to my uncle in the queue by some time next week.

Q: Why do I have to keep dealing with this stuff instead of the care coordinators who are supposed to be helping my uncle?
A: Because they aren't doing their fucking jobs and have ignored my multiple emails and phone calls trying to find out why.
