I've got a project I'm toying with where I'd like to set up a text-based digital card catalogue for my book collection. I figure I can do this easily with a MySQL database but the tricky part is importing my existing xml data. I'm sure there's an easy way to do it but I'm a little baby beginner
My idea is that I run it off an old Raspberry Pi with a smallish LED screen on a terminal built in to one of my bookshelves
I've currently got everything catalogued in Delicious Library 3, but that's getting a little long in the tooth. It can export to xml and I'm thinking having my own solution would probably be best. Plus I can design it however I want
Maybe something like this
I'm not going to use an actual CRT for this for power consumption reasons so it won't look exactly the way I'd like but I will live with that compromise
@lesmcclaine i feel like epaper would be neat too-- you could also set up some sort of rotating screensaver to show off random books in your collection (ive thought about doing something like this a lot)
@emaytch oh, yeah, that's a great idea!
