Want to turn my attention back to Speccy game dev, had an idea rumbling around my head for a while now but I keep getting distr.... Ooooo tnsfd is running at 100% CPU again, clearly not selinux then.
@jimblimey
If you are needing any help ;-) I am always available for exchange of ideas.
@raymierussell For once I have the entire idea already up in my brain, just keeping focus on it is the problem as I'm all into the connectivity stuff at the mo despite me being unable to understand the asm that gets the wifi modem on my Omni working and not owning a Spectranet device 😆
@jimblimey
My latest tinkering is to create a mock up #Ceefax Page using my 42 column print routine called Specfax. It just displays an instruction page and you can type in a 3 digit page number between 000-999 but doesn't actually change. I also modified the print routine to print double height if required.
@raymierussell Ooo that looks good, something that could be delivered over the internet too!
@jimblimey
The basic Ceefax page spec is 42 x 24 apparently so this does fit that. I am sure there was an add on for the speccy back in the day that allowed it to display ceefax.
@raymierussell There was! Funnily enough it popped up on BlueSky the other day, I forget what it was called though
@jimblimey
I think back in the day this pseudo teletext look would have been quite good as a tape fanzine type thing.
@raymierussell Definitely! ZXBASIC has a 42 column library which I have used in the past for my teletext style NYE schedule post thing
@jimblimey
Oh, Thats very nice.
It's funny how ANYTHING that looks different from the default Sinclair font looks much more interesting. And the speccy font is perfectly fine.
@raymierussell You're right, and it is weird how we dismiss the default font. Even the default ZX80 is more preferable even though the Speccy font is beautiful
@jimblimey I thought All the fonts on the ZX machines were the same.Just shows I am only really acquainted with the speccy.
@raymierussell It was the ZX81 that introduced what we know (well the uppercase anyway). You can see the evolution though, but I actually quite like the ZX80 - shame again no lowercase
