There's a couple YouTube reviews of the Asus PA27JCV that dropped today. Around 5:20 is the main issue I have with the Samsung 5k display and every other display that's not made by Apple. @#$@!@# matte coatings!

New 5K display for Mac! Asus ProArt PA27JCV

@paul Skimmed the video, bummed out about bad speakers and no proper macOS integration. I don’t want to spend the money for a Studio Display (and want to connect other devices to the monitor too), but none of the other options look good enough in comparison

@paul I think the upcoming BenQ 5K might be what a lot of Mac Users are waiting for.

Lets hope its similarly priced as the Asus model.

BenQ
@paul that, and no 120hz -_-
@b3ll I can live with that, don't care about speakers or camera either.
@paul @b3ll Why does he say there’s no utility for Mac to adjust brightness? Of course there is, BetterDisplay!
@paul For me it's the longevity! My Samsung ViewFinity died 2 years later after freezing almost every day. Ended up finding an Apple display because at least it's reliable.
@paul
Give me a matte panel every single day of the year, over those stupid mirror gloss ones that are completely unuseable in many environments.

@paul Hey there, Paul. I liked your previous comments about Studio Display, and I wanted to add my 5 cents.
I’ve been thinking about purchasing Studio Display for months. For me the selling point was longevity like Nick mentioned.
ASD is expensive. But 27-inch, 5K, 600 knits brightness, flawless color reproduction, macOS integration were the main reasons why I wanted Apple display. And it should be good for ten years or so.

Are other displays cheaper? Yes. Are they as good as ASD? No.
And when you think about how long they will last, well, Studio Display actually starts to look like a decent investment.
