We saw a sight like that a few times back in the 70s when we lived in Denver, Co. Our apartment was in line with the north/south landing pattern that seemed to be used often in bad wintry weather. We would see through the falling snow a low flying passenger jet as it appeared and passed over our apartment before it disappeared quickly again into the low clouds and falling snow.

It didn't make us feel all that safe when we were in that kind of weather.
