Trying to watch Abbott Elementary, and it's crazy to me that teachers just walk out of their classes and leave their grade 1 and 2 students without an adult for any amount of time. Do American schools not have intercom systems?
@zephy I don't think you have to always be paying attention to kids, especially if you say, "Ok, work on this. I need to go do something real quick." XD
@Peacemaker9669 As someone that works in schools, if you did that with 6- and 7-year olds, you'd be on a disciplinary plan by the end of the day. Even pregnant teachers need to make special arrangements in advance with their neighbour teachers when emergency pee breaks happen.
@zephy Yeah but Ava is not the best principal. X3
Plus I think Janine and Gregory are just right outside their classrooms so technically they're still supervising them? Unless you're referring to something else? :O
@Peacemaker9669 There's one where Ava calls Gregory to her office, and at one point he gets annoyed and asks if he can go back to his class because the kids are unsupervised. Like... so you've just been having a meeting and you left 6-year-olds alone? What would you say if one of the kids got hurt or a fight happened or something? The first question would be "where was the teacher?".
@zephy Yeah. If I had to logically put it together, it could be due to understaffing and I think that was when Gregory was supposed to be a substitute and new? So he wouldn't know who to ask probably? But it's also a sitcom. X3
