There is no pill that solves this problem, whatever Wes Streeting might say. Only radical reform of food regulation can solve this crisis - and save the economy.
The stock market is failing according to the CBI. So why don’t we just let it go?

The CBI is saying that the situation with regard to the UK stock exchange is getting desperate, because it is losing out to overseas markets and not attracting sufficient business. The question that needs to be asked is, why is that?...

@RichardJMurphy I am not a economist or healthy professional. But could it be possible to tax all junk and processed food and pass on the money raised from taxing this on to healthy food by making it more affordable for people?

@RichardJMurphy It's all about money .. and doing cheap food with long shelf life .. carbs, fats, sugars, salt and artificial flavouring over 'bulking material' and you get 'a perfect recipe for disaster'. Sadly proper good for you food should be fresh, made with simple but fresh/quality ingredients, cooked and eaten on the spot not stored for X time. But most of all should be made with "real quality stuff" good veggies, good meat, good flour, good eggs .. It's the problem with lowering costs.

It simply isn't that simple. There are other important factors, including:

1. Planning public space and travel around cars, not people; 2. Destruction of public health systems; 3. Poverty, including housing and resources for cooking.

This is not exhaustive. There are common elements underlying all of these elements, including the one on which you focus.
