Tonight it's a meeting of the Alameda Water District. Should they spend money for the new Delta tunnel project?

One director is currently speaking and saying they have the money to piss away on their plan. And that the Delta is doomed. Wants to consider studying the project, but continues to support it.

Next director. They need to provide access to water. She likes the Sierra Club comments, but.... They don't have cost effective alternatives to this project. Recycled water is x3 as much cost. They have two fish ladders. They need to stay in the project since it gives them 40% of their water.

Not sure who is talking now, someone who seems to be saying that the Sierra Club has changed. The first Delta tunnel had fishermen celebrating a victory for a canal. And now they've changed their mind because the Sierra club is making money off lawsuits. [Wtf lol?]

Next director, he supports the project. Ex Coast Guard. Reliability is important. He says none of us have taken sea showers. It took them 20 years to build a fish ladder. Can't tell if he thinks it's being rushed or not. A few thousand written comments came in. He's unhappy with how slow building projects takes. Delta will fail. Levies will fail. Hopes to have a conversation, they haven't made a commitment. They'll look at the cost.

Director Reed moves to approve staff item 1&2.

Man, they're not even delaying till the new report comes out in April. (Report would further constrain the amount of water that could leave the Delta.)
