Am I wrong to think as I have NHS hearing aids, my most recent audiology assessment should be available to me on my medical records through the NHS app?

I want it to apply for the disabled rail card I’ve been entitled to all my adult life, but no one told me about.

I’ve been told that if my GP surgery had such details (which they say they don’t - and is alarming in itself as this is my main medical condition) I would be charged to access it. I’ve not previously been given a copy by hospital.

When I tried to contact audiology department at the hospital, the voicemail said they only accepted calls between 9am and 1pm weekdays and no messages could be left.

I work 5 days a week…I’m feeling a little frustrated!

I love and believe in the NHS, I really do…so can I take my frustration out on that odious man Frank Hester (misogynistic racist who wished physical harm against Diane Abbot) as he’s the one who got all the NHS IT contracts for patient record management?

In a world where our data can be stolen, sold and used against us…it’s really annoying that basic medical data about us is still not stored in one place.

Update: So after my difficulties yesterday trying to find proof on the NHS app or direct from my GP/audiology dept that I am indeed hard of hearing and wear NHS hearing aids…I tried phoning audiology again whilst at work today.

It wasn’t promising. They refused to email me details of my hearing prescription because of data protection. I meekly pointed out it was my data…to no avail.

Then, 2 hrs later my GP surgery phoned to say they had written a letter confirming my hearing loss. Result!
