The motion was brought to Cork City Council by Cllr Pádraig Rice, following a pledge he made to Belong To's #CheckTheFacts campaign.

@clickhere This needs to happen everywhere. It should have happened at least a decade ago in the U.S. but we have unserious lawmakers across both parties.

@julianrt It should have been happening since at least the early 1990s - even before then.

(On a separate note, we have a multi party system with PR-STV voting. Definitely recommend it, imperfections and all, if democracy survives the decade.)

@clickhere I am definitely realizing the privilege I had growing up in a democracy and learning how much we are losing through misinformation and apathy. I am so incredibly depressed and scared.
@julianrt It's disturbing times. Now is when people must listen to queers, feminists (not terfs), BIPOC, disabled peole, leftists, and every other person who for years has been warning about this, especially as we felt its effects first. Listen, understand, act.
@clickhere I wish those weren’t they very people who are being silenced, but I guess there is a reason for that.
