With this lead headline, the #BrokenTimes gives Trump what he wants--the image of strength--when what he exhibits instead is clownful disdain for the institutions of democracy and government: justice, security, and his own Senate.
@jeffjarvis The FBI background check on Gaetz might be… interesting. Wonder if that’s FOIA-able?
@rheldt @jeffjarvis
They'll make sure it is not interesting at all. See; Brett Kavanaugh's investigation.

@jeffjarvis

We've elected the petulant monster child from that Twilight Zone episode and everyone is fellating his ego to avoid his wrath.

"It's a fine thing you did, Donnie. A very fine thing. Now, please ... put it in the cornfield."

@jeffjarvis "Show of force?!" His picks are a sign that he still doesn't understand (or care) that appointees should actually be qualified for the job they're being given. Choosing Gaetz as AG is a blatantly transparent attempt to make any legal issues go away for both men. Hopefully Thune has the balls to not just rubber stamp Trump's nominees by allowing recess confirmations.
@jeffjarvis Force is what you use when you are incompetent. And a show of force is what you use when you want your opponent to lay their cards on the table. And Trump's opponent on this case are the Senate Republicans.
@jeffjarvis A severe typo for «sign of madness».

@jeffjarvis

You are right, and this brave, true, and heartbreaking piece by @swordsjew describes what a "show of force" in the world of Trump and MAGA-land looks like.

@jeffjarvis In a way, it is though, because if he can make the Senate submit, he is demonstrating his supremacy as the leader without co-equal branches of government. I think this is a sort of attack on the Congress. He'll already have the Judiciary in his pocket, for the most part other than a handful of Federal judges he'll have DOJ and the SCOTUS. He needs Congress to show it has no teeth.
