Perfect has got to stop being the enemy of good, especially with societal change.

Susan B Anthony was racist, no way around it, most people were then, lots of people still are.

Does that mean I should give up my hard won rights, because it wasn't done the right way?

ABSOLUTELY NOT! What it means is that we all have to work towards more equality for women of color, as well as for ourselves.

Utopias don't exist, but we do, we don't have to agree, to work towards better, we should just work towards better. It has always been the Apocalypse for someone, this is not new. Change isn't faith based, we know we can make positive change, if we work together, we will. Stop thinking it doesn't matter just because there are setbacks. Start thinking generationally, and not just for right now.

Real, lasting change is the result of an incremental series of {steps, efforts, actions, intentions, etc.}, some of which may not appear to be “forward,” but all of which overall lead us toward the ultimate goal.

@RickiTarr The point isn't that she was racist so women shouldn't have the vote. It's that we continue as a nation to erase the racism of important historical (and current) figures, and that this erasure is part of the system that continues to oppress and victimize Black Americans. White people don't need to renounce our own rights to ensure those rights are also extended to all, including and especially to Black Americans, who have been denied them for centuries.

@RickiTarr Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence while profiting from slavery. Washington led the country in war and peace, all while profiting from slavery. Many of those who wrote and fought for their own rights vehemently denied those rights to Black people. If we can't acknowledge these aspects of our history, how can we understand how the current systems continue the oppression that grew from those historical practices and thoughts?

@Joe_Hill @RickiTarr It's not just the PTBs, though. How many people voted for Trump because, not only do we not have, like, him on tape saying the n-word so we still argue if he's racist, but also because it's just too hard to believe a Black woman is qualified to be President? The PTBs play on these inequalities and profit off them as they can, but they aren't the only ones that are making sure they continue.
