Well here's a delightful thing that happened today. Inspired by the comments section of a recent video I uploaded, I decided to seek out the woman who is the voice behind the verbal announcements you hear in Otis elevator systems.

I did indeed find her. Linda and I had a lovely phone call this afternoon and that interview will be released as an upcoming video in the near future.

@deviantollam
Did you give her the elevator pitch?
@deviantollam How did you start THAT conversation?
@Sempf it was fun, I'll say that ๐Ÿ‘
@deviantollam ooo exciting!!! i love it when a hunt turns out successful
@deviantollam When researching voice actors for the Dutch dub of The Real Ghostbusters cartoon, I did some ghostbusting myself. The lady who did the voice of Jeanine and Slimer was thought to have passed away, but I got a hold of her and I ended up finding out sheโ€™s been the bus stop announcement voice for years!

The actor who voiced "You've Got Mail" for AOL passed away last week.

@dec23k @massivedmg wow I didn't know that

@deviantollam @massivedmg
I saw it in the "other headlines" under another story on some mainstream media website.

Various (tech and non-tech) outlets have been picking up the story, so I figured it was better to link his Wikipedia page.

@deviantollam @dec23k

Wasn't there a whole Tom Hanks movie based on that soundbite?

@massivedmg @dec23k there was a film with that name, yes
@deviantollam so cool, I will gladly watch that :)
@deviantollam this is plagiarism!! Years ago (2004) in Italy an actors trio did the same in a movie called โ€œTu la conosci Claudia?โ€: they found the voice of the TomTom gps navigation system (nearly the only one available back then) and take her with them on their trip. Jokes aspide I suggest you and @Tarah to Watch this movie, maybe in italian, I assure youโ€™ll love it! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Do_You_Know_Claudia%3F

@deviantollam How excellent. After the last week it's good to have some uplifting news.
@deviantollam "Eleven!!" in deeply Scottish accent.
