While I was being sedated for my hysterectomy, the (woman) surgeon came in to check on everything. I asked her if she would be so kind as to send my uterus to Congress. If they want to control them, I said, they can have mine.

Every person in the room was female and I passed out to the sound of roaring laughter.

@TheJen

great story! How about we share female surgery moments en route to sedation? Here's my lumpectomy story. My family bought me a "cameo" and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar wished me lots of luck on the surgery. It was a glorious couple of minutes (I have loved Kareem forever and though I am barely 5'2", some friends have given me the nickname, Kareem) and the surgeon and staff loved it. It was a perfect preface to 10.9.8.7 and poof!

@cindyweinstein HAHA NICE!

@TheJen

hysterectomy story. Counting down to 0 and the music the surgeon played was Cyndi Lauper's time and after time. I wanted to tell him that my name was Cindy and I had just written a book about time and American lit. and then the anesthesia kicked in. By the way, I am glad you are feeling well but how scary to wake up in medias res!

@cindyweinstein LOL. Yeah. That part was friggin WILD. All I heard was "oh shit! She's awake!" I heard the scuffling of the anesthesiologist running into the room with their little booties on, and I was back out.
@TheJen @cindyweinstein
In the middle of eye surgery, with local anaesthetic only, I yelled "ow". Surgeon goes: "you felt that? You shouldn't be feeling anything." I go "Umm yes that did hurt". More anaesthetic applied quickly! Rest of operation went well.
@ericsfraga @TheJen @cindyweinstein I have been there as well. Start of a C-section. They had to stop and give me more of the epidural. Then the anesthesiologist pipes up, ah, sorry, seems like we are having issues with this lot of drugs.πŸ˜³πŸ™„ - so after a double dose, things proceeded as scheduled.

@bookaholic @ericsfraga @TheJen

oof. during a C-section! You poor thing. I'm glad things got back on track.

@cindyweinstein @ericsfraga @TheJen Thanks. Just happy my OB took me seriously when I told him I could feel the scalpel. 😬 Other than turning green after the excess drugs. It all turned out well.
