@DharmaDog they call the police even when you ask them not to. They get people killed and their lives ruined.
@jenzi As do all legitimate crisis counselors because it's the law. They save people when their lives are in crisis. Dissuading people from reaching out for help gets people killed and many lives harmed.
@DharmaDog I'm saying to be certain why you call. Calling Trevor's project to talk about your drug addiction can get you put in jail when you're not a threat to yourself or others. It's not that they call police when they should - it's that they do when they shouldn't, that's not the law.

@DharmaDog Police kill the ones they are supposed to save. All the time. I was suicidal and they pulled their guns on me. The reason others don't follow this "law" is because the police can be agents of chaos:

Trans Lifeline Calls on Crisis Hotline 988 to Halt Nonconsensual Police Interventions

A new report from Trans Lifeline details how America’s largest crisis hotline violates users’ consent, safety, and privacy in and outside of police involvement.

Them.
@jenzi We all follow the law because it's the LAW. Trans-Lifeline also reports and is just jockeying for funding. Read their official policy. We DO NOT have geolocation information. That's a lie. What you are doing here is reckless and dangerous.
@DharmaDog Again - what I'm against is sending the police to something they shouldn't be involved in. That's what is reckless in many cases too. I know it's all we have, but I'm advocating for change.
@jenzi You did not advocate for change in your reply. You said we call the police and get people killed and ruin lives. You made no qualifications in your statement. I take that personally and it's reckless and dangerous.
@DharmaDog You said you call the police. I talked about The Trevor Project, you included yourself and made it personal for yourself. You ignored that in some of the interactions with police people die as well. It's weird and unfruitful.
@jenzi This is your very first reply. My original post said nothing about police. It was just about dealing with a 700% increase of LGBTQ+ youth in crisis. Fuck you very much. Goodbye! 👋
@jenzi Yes, we crisis counselors, most of us volunteers, are trying to get people killed. That's what we're doing. I've heard the gunshot on the phone, had callers die on the phone, and had callers found dead. Less than 2% of calls are reported to emergency services. 90+% of the time, we have no identifying information beyond phone number. 100% of the people who die from suicide are dead. There are state and federal laws and liability insurance that require us to report.
@DharmaDog Why did you take on the persona of the police to play a victim there? I've lost a lot of people to suicide, an entire generation of boys dead - I've never said to not try and minimize harm. The root cause is that we send police in the first place.
@jenzi That’s not what I did. You are casting us as villains when we are trying to deal with and respond to very difficult and dangerous situations. I was sharing that many of us do this with the experience of failed fatal outcomes. You put "law" in quotes as if I made it up. I'm sorry for your failed experience. We are simply trying to be of service and help. Discouraging people from seeking help is not the answer. 🙏
@DharmaDog That's also not what I did, you are putting yourself in a position here I didn't put you in. I'm also not discouraging anyone from seeking help, I think you're saying the same thing I've said - police can and will be called.
