What once was solid is now scattered, and what once was divided is now one.

Today, we celebrate the 35th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall – an unstoppable force in history to unify Europe.

Many of its segments can be found all over Europe, even in front of our headquarters in Brussels.

Looking at them, let’s remember what courage can bring about.

The best way to celebrate the day is strengthening the bond to face together the challenges that no national state can face by its own means only.
It is time to act NOW, as #MarioDraghi clearly stated.
@EUCommission Not to defend Eastern bloc repression, but since the Berlin Wall came down, the rights & freedoms of the West have shrunk instead of growing.
@EUCommission Let's not forget which country was responsible for the Wall in the first place.
