@gruber Reading this I have weirdly meta thoughts about you expressing the sentiment being more of a story than the sentiment itself. You're writing about Apple managing a relationship with Donald Trump, and at the same time there's always been a bit of intrigue on my part about the bi-directional relationship you have with Apple and the nature of it and how it's managed. And so I can't read this without all the tension being about the risk it took to write it, and curiosity of how Apple responds, not directly, but wondering about special guests at the WWDC Talk Show, etc. I would assume there's a level of discontent they expect to show up in many ways across their business after an election, so it's probably something they contain and take in stride to a large degree rather than being affronted. That said, they do seem to have a penchant for long memories and vindictiveness. Either way, good for you speaking your truth. You've built enough capital that it won't be lost in a sea of voices.
@swingerofbirch That's all keenly observed. And I'm aware of those same dynamics. But one of my talents is an ability to compartmentalize. It doesn't serve me well in all aspects of life but I think it has in my career. I can pack any and all potential repercussions in a box and put the entire box aside, and write what I feel compelled to write. Whatever comes will come, but I know I can defend every word I wrote.
