While control of the U.S. House is still undecided, the fossil fuel industry has readied executive orders for Trump to sign that will roll back Biden admin rules reducing emissions… 🧵
First, the conservative Project 2025 plan's section on the Environmental Protection Agency calls for a "Day One Executive Order" that sets up "pause and review teams" for agency work.
The book goes on to propose weakening of emissions standards.
One of the executive orders, from the group the American Exploration and Production Council (AXPC), would kill a new fee on methane emissions that became law in the Inflation Reduction Act.
The methane fee is also opposed by top industry group the American Petroleum Institute (API).

A handful of fossil fuel billionaires donated $20 million backing Trump, led by Kelcy Warren, CEO of pipeline giant Energy Transfer.
Also giving $1 million+:
- fracking magnate Harold Hamm
- oil & gas driller George Bishop
- coal baron Joe Craft
Fossil fuel industry donors like Chevron, ConocoPhillips, and API gave record high amounts to the super PACs that spent the most to help Republicans retake the Senate—and potentially hold the House: more than $54.2 million, just through Q3.
One of those pickups, the #OHSen seat, was the top target of the AFP Action super PAC, bankrolled by billionaire industrialist Charles Koch.
The Republican Senate challenger is currently leading in AFP's second-highest spending target, #PASen, as well.
