Tentative road trip plan thread! Just going to throw out my vague ideas for an itinerary here, mainly thinking out loud. If you see an area you're familiar with and think there's something I should do or see, chime in.

Day 1 - Sunday November 3
Morning drive from home to Bairnsdale to see my father and have lunch. Casual 4 hour drive there, shouldn't be much trouble.

Afternoon, I'll set the destination to Benambra and stop somewhere around there if I see a nice spot to camp. If the weather is nice, anyway. If it's awful I might just find a rest area or something, watch some TV in the car and snooze there until dawn.

Day 2 - Monday November 4
Set the controls for the heart of Wagga Wagga! Lunch with @matt and a bit of a kick back and "see what happens" day.

Whenever I depart Wagga, I'll set the destination to Brisbane and drive until I don't feel like driving anymore, or find a nice spot to stop and camp.

Day 3 - Tuesday November 5
This one's really vague right now. Depends on how far I got yesterday and how nice the weather is. I probably could make it to Brisbane, but only if I'm not having fun. Probably best to have an easy day, explore some places, and try to end up within maybe 3-4 hours of Brisbane instead.

Rest of thread and edits to come!

Ok, I had dinner at the pub in Benambra and the food was good, but the locals didn't pass my vibe test and I've backtracked to Omeo.

There's a nice spot here that I misread the details on, thought I was allowed to put up a tent here but apparently not. So I'll snooze in the car, no biggie. It's nice and quiet and it's getting dark so I don't want to roll the dice again. I'll go for a walk around the park and town, watch some TV and get an early start.

Clean toilets are a bigger score than somewhere to stretch right out!

Here's the terracotta tortoise at the Benambra pub!

I have woken up in much worse places, for sure. Good morning, Omeo!

Stopped at Mitta Mitta to literally stretch my legs. I am not a fan of the Omeo Highway, got to say. Beautiful country but that road did not agree with me, all the curves and sharp turns were a bit much, and I grew up and learned to drive in stuff like that. Was getting a bit nauseous even towards the end, and there weren't nearly enough places to pull over and take 5.

But hey, the end result is worth it.

The Terracotta Tortoise is in Cowra, and has now travelled a touch over 1000km!
Lazy dinner in the park on a lovely warm evening!
I have realised that I could be in Brisbane by around 6pm tonight without much trouble, and have decided that I really need a fucking shower so I've booked a motel. 😎
Are we there ... Yetman?
I drove 1800 kilometres to make this joke.
@mike worth every kilometre
