I can tell you that once you file for an office, you get bombarded with questionnaires to fill out, as sent to your campaign email address on file. Some of those groups post the answers. So if you want to dig, look for those posts. And pay attention to if candidates bothered to respond to surveys - it shows what they think of voters. The Sierra & Green Party surveys each took me a few hours to do!

1) Greens. So this is going to be weird, but our local Alameda County Green Party does post all their survey results. If Empower Oakland are the fascists, as someone above claimed, then surely these would be the opposite? (I'm endorsed by both. *shrug*) https://acgreens.wordpress.com/voter-guides/

(I did the dubious thing of joining NextDoor, and I liked this comment I just made, so am reposting it here. If I get around to it, I'll put it on my website.)

2) Empower Oakland posted their reasoning and surveys, and even though I was the only one returning information in my race, they looked at my competitor's websites and decided they like me best. I think that shows their dedication to research. Note also, that they DID quiz https://empoweroakland.com/voter-guide/

5) I never heard from them, but https://blacklivesvoterguide.org/ gives reasonings, and says where they disagree.

6) https://ballotpedia.org/ has surveys candidates filled out (if they bothered) - not all of their information is up-to-date, I don't see any of my endorsements listed

7) All money received and spent is required to be logged with the FPCC. That's the number you should see on candidate mailings. You can look up exactly who their biggest donors are and how they've spent their money. Sites like Open Secrets don't seem to have updated for this election cycle.

8) If you're into video, there are lots of candidate forums, some of which were videoed. Look for the local Dem Clubs, League of Women Voters, etc. Consider that someone might not be the best public speaker, but they still might be good for the job. You can always check to see *who showed up*.

I don't remember which survey asked me about the Pamela Price recall, but somebody did. That's going to be your biggest fault line in this election.

If a group says yes on 33, be wary, they're either virtue signaling or don't understand it or don't care. A Huntington Beach city council member said they *wanted* it to pass so that they could prevent housing from being built. The state has PO'd a lot of cities by trying to force them to zone to build housing - this is a perfect way for them to make an end run around their housing requirements. And the organization that put it on the ballot SUED the city of LA to block their housing element. (That's the state-required "zone for ability to build housing please" document.) That is not the action of somebody who is pro-housing.

Prop 34. "It's a revenge measure"
Vote yes. This is a little personal, because I'm half-gay. I don't like AHF. If they want to raise funds for political advocacy, they should. Instead they're using funds from a government prescription discount benefit to give us the same shitty "rent control" legislation over and over. These are people who sued to BLOCK housing in LA. Don't trust them.

Plus 34 would allow the state of CA's Medi-cal to negotiate for lower drug prices. Win!

The more I think about it, considering that AHF sued to block LA's housing element (that would have approved more housing to be zoned), I wouldn't be surprised if they put #prop33 on the ballot because they know people will vote for it AND they know that it will stop new housing from being built. (See Huntington Beach council member saying that's exactly how they'll use it: to block all housing.)

If we vote no on 33 & 34, we'll get another bad prop like 33 in a year. Vote yes on 34 so AHF spends their government money from the prescription drug benefit on patients. Nothing stops them from fundraising to put ballot measures on! Plus the state Medi-Cal can then negotiate for lower drug prices.
