Every year, when I can afford it, I give away some jewelry in my shop to people who can't normally afford it. It's something I find personally meaningful to do. This year I let other people sponsor gifts: they pay wholesale price for a gift card and I pass it onto a trans person who asks for it.

I got an overwhelming response. 33 people sponsored 50 gifts to send out in addition to the 6 I put in. If you're trans and not expecting a gift this year (or your child or partner is in that position and you'd like to get them something), you qualify for a gift card.

The gift cards are for $60, which covers $50 of presents + shipping + tax. If you're outside the US, let me know in the message and I'll include extra for international shipping.

I'm casting a pretty wide net here for what counts as "trans"; it's okay to request if you're closeted and/or non-binary, genderfluid, two-spirit, etc. I also don't need you to perform thankfulness or anything like that. You don't have to follow my account as long as you can get DMs from me. It's also fine to request something if you don't celebrate any of the winter gift holidays and would like something nice.

I am just realizing that I was using "winter gift holidays" as a catch all, and that's only accurate for half the world! If you're trans and not expecting a gift for any of the December-ish holidays you qualify for this. Sorry for forgetting about the southern hemisphere.

@nora LOL You have just made me recognize that most of the reason I am hyperfocusing on this conference proposal that is totally out of my league (so don't know if it's impossible or just different)... is because I knew it was due right before election and it's a distraction. I do already know I'll be incredibly relieved at rejection :P

@nora My polling place is about 400 yards up the road -- easier to get to than the one at work -- and I think there might have sometimes been a line but they busted the neighbor with the machine guns and tiki torches armed with explosives (he said it was for fourth of july, right) ... Hmmm.... maybe I will vote at work after all :P

@nora it’s hard to give stuff, isn’t it? People have internalized “other people have it harder, I shouldn’t snag this” to the degree that they just won’t take your lovely offer. I did a donation drive to support our local bookshop and get books for people a few years ago and it was much more work to get people to sign up for a book than to get them to donate several books worth!
