The recurring theme of this era: Trump can do whatever he wants. Musk and other billionaires can do whatever they want. Israel can do whatever it wants.

But if you're a college freshman who goes to an anti-genocide rally, you can end up expelled and in jail. Even deported, depending on who you are.

Great system.

Young women and queer people are being systematically infantilized and stripped of autonomy by older, white, conservative people who have already stolen the opportunity to own homes, start families, and all the other traditional markers of adulthood.

But they're happy to put little kids to work in factories.

The explicit message being handed down by the powerful is none of us have value except to produce more (white) children and profit for our incompetent, aging overlords.

@gwynnion

Well obviously! Women need to be coddled because they could never do REAL work, but Men should be men and it's best to start em young!

I started working my dad's farm at the age of 3. I was too small to drive the tractor so he made me plow fields with a Little Tykes bulldozer.

And if he caught me slacking you'd best believe I'd regret it. You know, because of the implications.

@gwynnion There’s a name for this system: Conservatism.

It consists of exactly one premise: There is an in-group which the law protects but does not bind, and an out-group which the law binds but does not protect.

#wilhoitslaw #conservatism

.
that is the definition of law in the real world, but yes, it defines cons that they love law because of it

@punishmenthurts @gwynnion @simon_brooke You should pay close attention to what you just said.

The principle of #ruleoflaw, that is supposed to underpin democratic governance & liberty, requires exactly the opposite.

When you feel what you just felt, you are feeling a violation of the rule of law. A principle that the law applies equally to all, even a king, a president, a mayor or the police.

And you should feel enraged. You should fight for it!

@gimulnautti @punishmenthurts @gwynnion the Rule of Law is a nice theory, but if it has ever really functioned anywhere in the world at any time in history I'm not aware of it. The very powerful have always and everywhere been able to flout the law.

@simon_brooke @punishmenthurts @gwynnion The same is true of democracy, is it not?

Yet, knowing that we will never reach it perfectly, we keep reaching. Why do we do that difficult thing, rather than something easier?

Because the easy thing is to let the great infallible leader take care of us. After all, they are perfect, in all ways, divine & beautiful.

La majestueuse égalité des lois, qui interdit au riche comme au pauvre de coucher sous les ponts, de mendier dans les rues et de voler du pain.

"daddy's home" - what's at fucking stake in this election

@gwynnion

Perhaps people need to carry a copy of the document that describes what antisemitism is, and that the definition of antisemitism does not include beign critical of Israel.

@gwynnion Best be careful which “anti genocide” demos you go on them
@gwynnion
What will you do about it?

@gwynnion Nowhere girl, you are pro-genocide in Tigray, pro-genocide in Xinjiang, pro-atrocities by the Assad regime and Sudan militias, and you are working to defeat Harris and bring about a trumpist dictatorship in the most crucial country for democracy.

Get a life or spare us these nonsense.

@pait @gwynnion "get a life," says the old man making shit up in an attempt to cyber bully women on the internet.

Log off and do something constructive. Like touching grass, or enjoying a hamberder and some covfefe.

@gwynnion
Same in Germany. As a Klimakleber or Baumhausbewohner you are an Ökoterrorist Like Paul Watson.
