Bezos' hiring of Lewis was his shift from hands-off messiah to Murdochian moguling. His endorsement nihilism is cynical transactionalism: If Trump wins, he has a friend; if Harris wins, she is too responsible to be vindictive in regulation or contracts. He wins either way. His #BrokenPost is lost in every way and he clearly does not care. There is no saving the Post from its savior.
@jeffjarvis Canceling subscriptions (cancels renewals) might persuade Bezos to sell WaPo. Which will either end it or save it.
@jeffjarvis Are you imagining a trajectory like the Daily Telegraph, which was once a truly good paper, although conservative?

@jeffjarvis I looked it up last night. My subscription lapsed in 2020. I left the NYTs in ‘16. Right now I pay for Josh Marshall’s Talking Points Memo. The Philly Inquirer is running a special and I believe is a non-profit.

Where else should we put our dollars?

@MiriShuli @jeffjarvis you can’t go wrong with ProPublica. If you are interested in public policy in the West, there’s High Country News. Both are non-profits. I like Wired, the New Yorker and Scientific American too
