balderdashHonestly, just set up an RSS feed. The internet is a bunch of isolated echo-chambers where you self-select into the chamber with the narrative you favor.
1984I think almost all RSS feeds are just news aren’t they? Maybe there is some collection of rss from personal blogs that are interesting to follow?

It can be news on topics you’re interested in, blogs on topics you’re interested in, podcasts, subreddits, etc. To give an idea, I follow:
- Ars Technica for tech news
- NASA for space news
- Local blogs on food/events/news/ going on in my city
- RockPaperShotgun for gaming news
- "A Collection of Unmitigated Pedantry" for blog posts from a history professor
- Richard Y Chappell for blog posts from a philosophy professor
- A few YouTube channels
- A few niche Reddit feeds
- XKCD for comics (most webcomic artists have an RSS feed)
Depending on your RSS app, you can also follow podcasts. I use InoReader for the above but I prefer a dedicated podcast app. There’s good/entertaining RSS feeds on the internet if you’re willing to curate it! It’s nice to get away from internet comments.
The main problem with RSS, and it was nerfed like 10 years ago, is that websites realised they were giving up news without getting your page impressions so they stopped putting the full article on the feed.
Found a nice list of resources for RSS. The internet really does feel like an echo-chamber now! There is so much noise to signal. Hopefully this post helps reduce the echoing a tad. I would love if you shared some tips for getting started with RSS if that’s alright!

Ya, altho I dont feel as comfortable commenting or posting there cuz they’re a bit intense and it doesn’t like humor as much in my limited experience. I like that I have an account but my engagement is much more limited there.

Lobsters. I feel at home on basically every other platform altho I’m a bit more serious on HN but I’m just a bit uneasy on Lobsters. Prefer to lurk there, i do plenty of engagement elsewhere to the point its actually kind of nice to shut the hell up once in a while 🤐

Find something you like. Format, UI, etc. I’m partial to the old early 2000s vBulletin forum format.
Following. There's a forum for everything - or almost everything.
However, one gap that I'm aware of - I've not found a forum (or even fediverse magazine/community) for third culture kids. There were some in the past, but AFAIK they've all gone defunct by now.
