What I would be arguing for is user-replaceable batteries so you can have an extra one and swap it out as needed. That way phones shouldn’t need to be (much) thicker, and you can keep your phone going as long as you want with extra batteries.
Those of us who do actually prefer thinner, lighter phones cannot take off the extra battery we don’t need. Plus bigger batteries are a huge waste of resources if the capacity isn’t going to be used.
