@khleedril hi, src:mcron came up in my QA query today. it's severely outdated (1.0.8, uploaded 2014), has a low popcon (vote=1 + old=13), three-year-old-at-time-of-fix RC bugs fixed by NMU, and unresponded-to bugs; I also see your page says you've refocused on Not This. do you intend to keep maintaining mcron upstream? do you intend to maintain mcron in Debian? if either one of these is "no" then I think the best course of action is an RM?

@nabijaczleweli

What is the context of this QA query?

#mcron is maintained by somebody called Adam Bilbrough with whom I have no contact; please see the GNU Savannah project page.

You can get my latest version by cloning https://rdmp.org/dmbcs/mcron.git.

What is an RM?

I'm happy to help however I can, what would you like me to do?

@khleedril sorry, i forgot you don't have any context here

my query is half-QA/half-MIA checking for debian packages — https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/mcron says you're the maintainer of mcron in debian; the last upload is in 2014 (with mcron 1.0.8) and it looks like (from https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?archive=both;src=mcron) that you lost interest around 2016

there was a non-maintainer upload to resolve a release-critical issue, but the package is otherwise-unmaintained. if you're no longer interested in maintaining it in debian, then, since the popcon is low (1 active user, 13 installed-but-don't-use), it may be better to remove it from the archive (RM) instead of letting it languish and accrue more make-work release-critical bugs in the future. i can file the removal for you if you'd like

if you are actually interested in actively maintaining the package, then update it, fix the bugs, fix lintian, &c. either way is fine

@nabijaczleweli Okay, I'll look into this. Think I lost my Debian maintainer status some time ago and had a hard time getting someone to check in a new version, but I'll see what I can do...
@nabijaczleweli Currently working to get my head around the 137 page Debian Maintainer's Guide 😓... It's been years since I've done this!
