MonarchLady@secretsandtea ... and the effects are far-reaching. Had my paternal grandmother not died of childbed fever with her second child, I might have had cousins by the bushel. As it was, my only child dad married my only child mother and I had no idea what cousins meant until I grew up and had my own family.
@MonarchLady Ugh. 😩 Yeah, it’s a brutal waste of precious life that folks have suffered so terribly from the lack of effective treatments. I can’t even imagine what your paternal grandmother had to go through in her last days & I think most people nowadays are comfortably removed from just how Hellish these scenarios can be.
@MonarchLady It sucks to know that things were cut so short so cruelly, even a few generations later. I understand- I also have very limited family myself, partly because my father’s mother died very young of lymphoma, which they were unable/ unwilling to accurately diagnose for her until it was much too late.
