I’m going to start this #OurAbortionStories 🧵 by sharing that despite always using contraception, I’ve been pregnant 3 times. I have a son (the Pill); I’ve had an #abortion (the Sponge+spermicide jelly); & I’ve had a miscarriage (tubal ligation). If the miscarriage hadn’t ended my 3rd pregnancy, I’d have had a 2nd abortion. If I hadn’t had access to a legal abortion, I’d have had an illegal one. & if I hadn’t had access to that, I’d have committed svicid3. W/O even the slightest hesitation. +
Pregnancy makes me super sick (hyperemesis gravidarum, hypotension, & more); bearing my son was a waking nightmare—I labored 36 hrs & his birth almost killed my bony butt; & while I adore my son & have always loved being his mom, I did NOT want more children. EVER. Furthermore, at the time of my #abortion, I was battling my toddler son’s father for a divorce; in my 1st yr of college; & working a couple of jobs. I’d been trying to find an OB/GYN willing to “tie” my tubes for 2 yrs. +

I couldn’t afford a pregnancy (much less another child), nor was there any way I could physically handle pregnancy or childbirth.

But most importantly, I didn’t WANT to.

& no one—including me, including you—should be forced to grow & bear unwanted babies.
No one.
NO ONE.
EVER.
Bodily autonomy is a fundamental human right. Period, end of conversation. /end #OurAbortionStories #WeTestify #AbortionIsAHumanRight #abortionisessential

@BootsChantilly I also was one and done. He damn near killed me.
@TheJen Too many ppl just don’t get it. Having said that, I kinda don’t care who gets it & who doesn’t. Ppl need to keep their gd noses out of other ppl’s bedrooms & uteruses.
