iPad feature request: auto "deep sleep" after 24h idle (10 seconds to wake is okay). iPads used to last over 30 days on standby, but every time I pick one up now after less than a week it's dead

Steve Jobs announcing the iPad 2:

@christianselig I've noticed this too! Although strangely the iPad Pro (2nd gen) I have on my desk will last *weeks*, however the current one doesn't seem to do that
@b3ll @christianselig Another factor may be the WiFi you are on and whether it provides the devices with power saving options available in the standard.
And of course Siri must eat some energy it it‘s always listening.
@chris @b3ll Weird that the iPad 2 managed with much more ancient WiFi standards
@christianselig @b3ll Weird reply. We don’t know whether applications/radio/networking environment of the two devices mentioned are the same and the only difference is the OS version. That‘s only known to Adam.
I only added the information that the WiFi standard and configuration can have an influence on the energy usage of the devices.
Sometimes people upgrade or reconfigure routers in the timespan of multiple years. If so it may be worth to look into it.
@chris @b3ll I’m saying if a WiFi standard and configuration can more than quarter a device’s battery life then that’s an OS problem. It’s fun to imagine but it isn’t something an end user should have to be troubleshooting
@christianselig @b3ll Then don‘t ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
