Does anyone have any good advice on explaining 1930s germany—and the fall of the Weimar republic—to morons?

Just thought I'd ask.

@sekka treaty of Versailles, ending WWI so punitive, on top of world depression, and a bajillion anarchists across Europe, makes people long for stability, authority, and a solid plan.
@Spuds @harlkyn @noxypaws To be clear, the question was semi-rhetorical. The Weimar republic was weakened by the treaty, yes, and Europe was in chaos with the fall of colonialism, yes, but that merely set the stage for the conventional fascist playbook and rhetoric that we're seeing in play here and now. It was destroyed in a catalytic reaction driven by the nazi party through manipulation of the people and politics. America is drastically less weak, but in similar danger.
