The Athletic had a great article about Messi (aka Inter Miami) going to the FIFA Club World Cup. Gianni Infantino announced Inter Miami as “one of the best clubs in the world”. Drum roll please. 🥁 🥁 🥁 The hyperbole is killing me! 😜 #intermiami #mls #FIFAClubWorldCup 💰 💰

Lionel Messi at the Club World Cup makes sense – but how he got there is ridiculous

It was inevitable the Argentine would be at FIFA's club jamboree next summer, but how he qualified feels unsatisfactory in the extreme

The Athletic
@soccermoviemom agree@[email protected] Is a bit ridiculous but outside of the top 5 leagues Inter Miami is a top tier team. Not just the AARP geniuses but their younger roster is ridiculous.
@mscheffel I enjoy watching Miami and Messi play. They have a dazzling display of offense, but MLS is a 2nd tier league. It might be very embarrassing to watch Messi & Co. give up multiple goals and fail to score when competing against the actual best clubs in the world. #FIFAClubWorldCup #mlssoccer

@soccermoviemom Agree, but this is one way to grow past 2nd tier.

I would imagine that “somehow” Infantino’s FIFA pairs IM with a 4th tier team for the opening game because 💰.
