First car? Kid has to earn it. Doesn't matter if it's a sweetheart 0% interest loan - they need to make payments.

This is why I give my children a bill for the past year on each birthday, starting from their first. Those deadbeat ingrates still owe me hundreds of thousands.

I have a friend who eventually had to go no contact with his parents because of his abusing mom.
