this whole bluesky thing kinda annoys me. people are acting like it’s some decentralized paradise, but it’s the same old bullshit we’ve seen before. like, did everyone already forget the twitter dumpster fire? we barely made it out of that mess, and now people are running right back into the same shit, just with a new logo.

so here’s the deal: bluesky’s pretending to be decentralized, but it’s all for show. yeah, you can run your own server, but it’s useless ‘cause you still don’t get a say in how things actually work. all the real power sits with these dumbass “reach” algorithms, basically the same kind of control google has over search.

what really gets me? people think bluesky is some step up from the fediverse. like, come on. sure, the fediverse has its drama and quirks, but at least it gives a shit about things like consent and moderation. admins can block toxic communities, defederate, and protect their users. but bluesky? they’re all about “neutrality,” which is just a way of saying “we’re not kicking anyone out, no matter how awful they are.” yeah, that’s gonna end well.

and i know what i’m talking about here. i run fuzzies.wtf. and trust me, it takes work to keep things running smooth. i’m not just sitting around watching people post memes. i’ve had to make some tough calls; from blocking toxic instances, to setting up moderation policies, and making sure the space stays safe and fun for everyone involved. that’s the whole point of decentralization: real control over your community. without that, it’s just chaos.

bluesky isn’t doing any of that. instead, they’re acting like decentralization just means shoving data storage onto volunteers while the real control stays in the hands of corporate. they’re setting the stage for the same mess we saw on twitter—only now, they’re pretending it’s somehow different.

and of course, jack dorsey’s the dude behind it all. the guy who thought elon musk was the messiah, hyped crypto and NFTs like they were the second coming, and threw cash at every sketchy tech project he could find. now he’s hyping bluesky like it’s the future, and people are eating it up. it’s like, dude, we just watched twitter go up in flames... why the fuck are you signing up for the same bullshit again?

look, i get that people want a shiny new toy. the fediverse can be messy, and sometimes it’s a pain in the ass. but at least it’s real. bluesky is just twitter in disguise, and we all know how that story ends; corporate assholes take over, everything goes to shit, and people act surprised when it blows up in their face.

so yeah, i’m calling it now; bluesky’s gonna turn into the same old garbage fire. if you don’t wanna get burned (again), maybe think twice before jumping on this bandwagon. the fediverse might be a hot mess, but at least it’s our hot mess.

@micr0 TL;DR: OP is critical of Bluesky, arguing that it's not truly decentralized and will ultimately be just like Twitter. They prefer the Fediverse despite its flaws, as it gives users more control over their communities and moderation. OP argues that Bluesky is just a rebranding of the same corporate control that plagued Twitter, and Jack Dorsey's involvement is a red flag.

@micr0

The above tracks. 💯

@infosec_jcp TL;DR: Bluesky is a rebranded Twitter with corporate control, not truly decentralized. The Fediverse is flawed but gives more community control. Jack Dorsey's involvement is a red flag.
@micr0 the "neutrality" thing concerns ne the most. from my understanding Odyesee and Bitchute became nazi bars because of the naive "zero censorship" policy

@micr0 i doubt its going to take off

remember when people were talking about moving to mastodon back when elon bought the site? yeah, we know how that went

they're going to return to twitter in a week, tops

Preach it, brother!
